Dr. Metz joined the CORE Orthopedics team in 2014 after completing a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Hamot in Erie, PA. Dr. Metz is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Hand surgeon. He received his medical degree and completed an Orthopedic surgical residency at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Metz belongs to a number of professional organizations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hand Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the Chicago Society for Surgery of the Hand. In addition, Dr. Metz has been published in multiple journals, such as the Indiana Orthopedic Journal and Operative Techniques in Orthopedic Surgery.
Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Metz is licensed to practice in Wisconsin and the State of Illinois. He also possesses a subspecialty in surgery of the hand examination.
His clinical practice focus includes adult and pediatric hand disorders, such as fractures, nerve disorders, arthritis, and Dupuytren’s disease. He is also interested in endoscopic nerve decompression and arthroscopic surgery for the elbow, wrist, and hand.
He has written chapters on pediatric finger injuries as well as adult tendon transfers for orthopedic text-books. Dr. Metz’s goal is to provide an individualized treatment plan, expedited care, and a multidisciplinary approach in order to get patients back to enjoying life as quickly as possible.
